Statement by Awmr Italy on Ukraine

No war , no neo-Nazis resurgence in the heart of Europe

Just few days ago, while women from the whole world were gathered in Moscow during the WIDF SC meeting and reiterated their commitment to continue the struggle for the women’s emancipation and the peoples’ freedom,  in Odessa (Ukraine)  more than forty peoples were burned alive in the House of Unions after attacked and besieged by extreme right-wing paramilitary groups, supporters of the Ukraine government that took office in Kiev by a coup fomented and backed by  US and EU.

It is a new barbaric unacceptable act that reminds us the operations of "ethnic cleansing" reappeared in Europe in the late twentieth century. We ask the international institutions to clearly condemn the massacre and stop the Ukraine government’s punitive operations against the Russian-speaking populations .

Nobody can not remain indifferent to the escalation of violence in Ukraine and the threat represented by the neo-Nazi resurgence in the heart of Europe which are fomented by those pushing for military confrontation and economic sanctions against Russia. Behind all this the Washington's plans become clear : further extending NATO to the East, taking advantage of a new cold war in order to strengthen its military and economic influence on Europe, as well as involving the European Allies in military actions not only on the Eastern Front , but also on other fronts that USA are opening up in other regions of the world.

On the eve of the European elections, we ask the democratic political parties and candidates to European Parliament to reject these war plans,  to oppose the increased European military spending, to deny sending NATO troops to Ukraine in support of  the neo-Nazi government, as well as to make every effort to reach a negotiated and peaceful solution of the crisis in Ukraine , on the basis of international law and the self-determination of peoples.
