Hiroshima e Nagasaki 74

Anche quest'anno, dal 3 al 9 agosto, si svolgeranno a Hiroshima e Nagasaki la Conferenza mondiale 2019 contro le bombe A e H ed il «Women's Forum  No nukes!». Ce lo rammentano le donne della Fudanren (Japan Federation of Women's Organizations) invitandoci a far pervenire la nostra solidarietà.

Care amiche, a Hiroshima e Nagasaki dal 3 al 9 agosto si terrà la conferenza mondiale del 2019 contro le bombe A e H, con un’ampia partecipazione dall'estero, sul tema "Per un mondo privo di armi nucleari, pacifico e giusto".

La Conferenza di quest'anno, che si tiene alla vigilia del 2020, 75° anniversario del primo bombardamento atomico, ha più importanza che mai nel raccogliere l'aspirazione degli Hibakusha, i sopravvissuti alla bomba, di vedere realizzato un mondo senza armi nucleari.

Con il forte sostegno degli Hibakusha e della società civile, è stato adottato il Trattato di proibizione delle armi nucleari (TPNW) e il numero di paesi che hanno firmato e ratificato il trattato è in costante aumento. Inoltre, all'interno degli stati dotati di armi nucleari e dei paesi "ad ombrello nucleare", assistiamo a un crescente movimento a sostegno del Trattato. Purtroppo gli stati dotati di armi nucleari e i loro alleati stanno voltando le spalle alla proibizione delle armi nucleari, anche se essi sono evidentemente in minoranza.

La Conferenza mondiale sarà un luogo per costruire un'ampia cooperazione internazionale tra le organizzazioni pubbliche, che includono gli Hibakusha e le vittime nucleari. In vista della Conferenza di revisione del TNP del 2020, sviluppiamo nella Conferenza i nostri maggiori sforzi congiunti per sollecitare gli Stati in materia di armi nucleari, affinché ne accettino la proibizione.

Le voci e le azioni delle persone a favore della pace e contro le armi nucleari crescono anche nella penisola coreana. Rafforziamo la solidarietà di base in Asia a sostegno della denuclearizzazione della penisola coreana e della creazione di un sistema di pace anche lì.

Sono lieta di informarvi che Masako Shibata, presidente di FUDANREN, rappresenterà la Women's International Democratic Federation alla Conferenza mondiale e nel “Forum delle Donne “No bombe! " dell'8 agosto a Nagasaki.

FUDANREN

Dear friends 

The 2019 World Conference against A and H Bombs will be held in Hiroshima and Nagasaki from August 3 to 9 with many delegates from abroad, upholding the theme, “For a Nuclear Weapon-Free, Peaceful and Just World”.

This year’s Conference, held on the eve of the year 2020, the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing, has greater importance than before in meeting the aspiration of the Hibakusha to achieve a world without nuclear weapons in their lifetime.

With the strong backing of the Hibakusha and civil society, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was adopted, and the number of countries that have signed and ratified the treaty is growing steadily. Also, within the nuclear-armed states and the “nuclear umbrella” countries, we are witnessing growing support to the treaty in their assemblies and among the public. The nuclear-armed states and their allies are turning their backs on the prohibition of nuclear weapons, but they are clearly in a minority.

The World Conference will be a place to build a broad international cooperation between public organizations including the Hibakusha and nuclear victims. In preparation for the 2020 NPT Review Conference, let us develop greater global joint efforts at the World Conference to urge the nuclear weapon states to accept the nuclear weapon prohibition.

People’s voices and actions for peace and against nuclear weapons abound also in the Korean Peninsula. Let us strengthen the grass-roots solidarity in Asia in support of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the creation of a peace system there.

I am pleased to inform you that Masako Shibata, President of FUDANREN will represent WIDF at the World Conference and “No nukes!　Women’s forum” on August 8 in Nagasaki. I will report you about them later on.
